OH SNAP I UNFOLDED THEM

When I was unfolding shapes without the unroll command, I struggled with keeping the edges of the shapes together. I solved this problem by using the osnap tool to make sure the lines I drew connected and to make sure I got no masmatched edges.

Papercraft Research

During my research I was most intrigued by Zim & Zou's work. They are french artists who create intricate handcrafted objects. They work with paper and a variety of other materials including felt. I am inspired by their use of bright colours in conjunction with subject matter that would otherwise not be colourful.  Their Douceur-Douleur project shows the innocence of child soldiers combined with the weapons they may have used. I think the message of the project is important and the objects made to represent it are crafted very impressively. The guns are made using a base of paper and colourful felt layered on top. The colours are very very eye catching, especially when paired with the weapon imagery.       The objects are first crafted using paper, it is plain white paper as it will be covered later with felt. The base is crafted using geometric shapes. The felt is then added to the object using glue and by stitching ...

Ring Rendering

My rings are mostly comprised of sharp edges and shapes created by triangles and squares since I prefer sharper objects to round ones. I did experiment with some softer designs in my process and a few aspects of them made it into my final designs.  I put holes on one side of a few of the rings because I do not wear rings very often and would prefer to put them on a necklace and wear them that way.  They have a simplistic design because that corresponds to my style. I tried to emulate several star designs because I have a great interest in the stars and space. I think it would be really cool to wear something I made to make me feel closer to the stars.
