First HD Renders (dragovator)

During my discussion with a classmate we decided that the initial scale between the dragon and the excavator was not large enough. For my final design I scaled down the dragon to be smaller in comparison to the excavator. We thought that this would create better contrast between the mythical dragon and modern machinery. Dragons are typically portrayed as huge towering creatures, by making the dragon smaller it creates a visual question of why it is smaller than the excavator. My classmate said they enjoyed the narrative being explored between the dragon and excavator. They also suggested that when completing my rendering I use bold colours. I chose to use bright colours that compliment and contrast each other to create an eye catching object. I told my classmate I wanted the object to have the look of a children's toy and ground it in the modern world. After discussing some material options I decided on shiny and matte plastic paired with a wooden floor.   ...

Remixed Objects

Remix culture allows artists to create and display new ideas by combining to already existing items. Remix culture is important because it gives artists the ability to show their understanding of the world around them by applying knowledge from observations in daily life. I chose to include the skull and the Minecraft sword because I like the contrast of the organic shapes of the skull against the geometric shapes of the sword. The image can also show how modern items have began to take hold of our brains. I combined the frog and this Santa hat because of the contrast the tropical frog and the warm hat would create. Since these objects are rarely seen in conjunction with each other, this adds a uniqueness to the design.  This image was created because I like how the dragon sits on the flat top of the excavator. I think the fantasy element the dragon brings contrasts to the modern machinery it sits on top of. I chose to combine the apple and this spoon because I wanted to try...

Tinkercad Object

I am responding to the couch in the video made by Hella Jongerius. I was inspired to recreate this object from the video because of Hella's thoughts on how people form attachments to objects. She believes that people will have deeper emotional connection to objects that are constant in their life for a long time. I think the more unique an object is the more connection someone will have to it. This couch is asymmetrical which makes it unique. I also really like the colours and appearance of the couch in the video, that is why I chose to recreate it.
